New Release - REMAINDERS - Book 3

REMAINDERS - RELEASE DATE - MONDAY JAN 20th

After the apocalypse, the SEEKERS dubbed themselves the REMAINDERS. They survived the beach, the tubes, and the egg room. Now, all they have left is faith, hope, love, and a flock of TAKERS. Will that be enough to start it all again?

We are the remainders,
the inheritors of the ashes,
and the builders of a new dawn.

From where Jack sat, it appeared the black sludge had cleaned up all the bodies, both Takers and humans. Except for the ones inside the Cheyenne Mountain Complex. He had no way of knowing what happened in there. The one glimpse he’d had inside the mountain had been so horrific, he hadn’t waited around to see more.

After finding his father and a few other survivors, both takers and humans, Jack dubbed the group “remainders.” They were determined to not go quietly into the night, regardless of the cost. But as time and space unraveled, and the laws of physics dissolved, the Remainders found they had very little to hold onto except their faith, hope, and each other.

Would it be enough?

Stevie-girl and the Phantom of Crybaby Bridge

Hello Weekend Writing Warriors ~ since Stutter Creek has been released ~ and since I've already published two whole chapters on the 8 Sentence Sundays, I decided to change horses and put up a few lines from Book Three of The Phantom Series: Stevie-girl and the Phantom of Crybaby Bridge, which should be out later this month.  This series is told from Stevie's POV.  Below is the set up:

Tagline:
Isn’t Algebra hard enough, do we seriously have to disentangle the spirit world, too?

Blurb:
Stevie-girl and her best friend, Jase, are phantom magnets.
Whenever they are together, the doorway between this world and the next seems to swing slightly open.

When his parents treat them to a camping trip to New Mexico, the two friends can’t wait to visit the legendary Crybaby Bridge.  Right away, they hear the crying baby . . . but is it really a phantom, or is someone playing tricks on them?

When they first arrive at the campsite, they are sent in search of makings for a campfire.  But the lure of the bridge is strong, so the two friends hurry down for a quick peek...

"C'mon," Jase said. "We'd better find some stones for the campfire."
As we turned to leave, a chill wind tore across the bridge and flung dirt and leaf debris directly into our faces.  We dropped hands and rubbed our eyes in disbelief.

Jase muttered, “What the heck was that?”
I rubbed my vision clear and gazed into the gathering gloom at the opposite end of the bridge.  The wind whistled and whirled around our ankles like dusty water.
Something doesn't want us here, I thought.

Okay, that's all today.  Don't forget to visit all the other authors at #WeWriWa

It's Ba-a-ack! Stevie-girl and the Phantom Student

Book Two in The Phantom Series:

Stevie asks Jase to help her find out why the ghost of a girl keeps appearing in her mirror. They think it has something to do with the new student at their school, a boy who has Tourette syndrome.  Both the new kid and the new phantom seem to need some kind of help. When the new kid falls prey to the school bullies, Stevie knows they must act. But will they be too late, or will a tragic moment in their school's history be repeated on Halloween night?

Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase  ★★★★★

A "Must Read" for those who care about the pain and shame of school bullying. The adventures of Stevie and Jase give us an insightful look at those with Tourette Syndrome and other problems faced by those who suffer from handicaps. A good book for public school libraries with its inspiring guidance for both students and parents. I gladly give it five stars.

Available on Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/d47a8hs  and soon to be on B&N, Smashwords, and Kobo.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Read Sequel
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Whenever I read a book that I love with characters I want to spend more time with and the author writes a sequel, I have mixed feelings. My first reaction is, "Wonderful! I can't wait to go on another adventure with my new friends!" And then, just before reading the first page of the sequel, I have a lurch in my stomach: "What if the new book isn't as good as the first one? What if the characters do things that make me not love them anymore? Do I really want to risk the good feelings I have from the first book?"

I needn't have worried! I loved Stevie and Jase in Stevie-Girl and The Phantom Pilot, but I love them even more in The Phantom Student. More layers have been added to their back stories and their relationship is growing deeper--still best friends but with a tiny hint of possible future romance as they age together, which was endearing.

This book is not soda pop and bubble gum, however. Serious and important themes of bullying, misunderstood people who are "different," and untimely death and loss are deftly woven into a beautiful story of mystery and friendship.
