#WeWriWa #8 Sentences from STUTTER CREEK romantic suspense

Hi Folks,

Skipping ahead a little bit, this scene shows the boy, Danny.  He is the boy Mandy saw standing beside the road at the beginning of the book.  Here is part of his tale . . .

Danny was cold.  All he had to cover his head was the old newsboy cap his dad had taken off a homeless man in the city.  He was tired and confused.  He just wanted to sleep and be warm.
His dad kept him nearly lifeless.  The first night with Danny, Kurt had crushed up one of the

prescription pills he’d liberated from his “buddy’s” medicine cabinet.  He’d sprinkled some of the

residue onto a McDonald’s hamburger.  When Danny complained about the grit, Kurt had grabbed the

burger and tossed it out the window.

That's all for this week.  Come back next time for 8 more!  And to visit the other author's pages, go here:  wewriwa.com

It's official. I don't like Danny's dad.

Very visual, loved it!

So sad. You might consider dropping 'was' and tightening the eight for more poignancy.

Kurt changed his mind about drugging Danny. A touch of conscience? Complex good guy? or Complex bad guy?

Very intriguing.

I went to school with an Ann Swann. In Gainesville, Georgia. I know, chances are slim, but I've been wondering since I saw your name.

How cool, Virginia. Nope, wasn't me. I grew up in Texas--married a Swann who was from Indiana. =)
And no, Kurt didn't change his mind about drugging the poor boy, just went about it a different way, later. =(

Thanks

Thank you, Gemma. =)

Wouldn't you like to just strangle him?

Wow, grim stuff. His Dad is awful (but you write him so well, so we don't like him, kudos). Excellent excerpt!

Sounds like a separated parent kidnapping his child.

I need to catch up with this one. Great hook.

Yep, he's the villain.

You're pretty darn close!

Thanks, Ella!

It's almost unbelievable, but some fathers really do things like that. Well written.

Thanks, Elaine. You're right, the character of Kurt was--unfortunately-- inspired by a real person in the news.
