HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO MOMS EVERYWHERE!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Hi, Folks,
Here is another 8 Sentence Snippet from STUTTER CREEK. It will be out in two more weeks. In this snippet, Beth has arrived at the cabin, which is where she first met her first crush, John Stockton.
Beth
was so glad to finally be at the cabin.
It brought back so many great memories, especially the memory of John, a
huge young bear of a man. He had been wandering
close to their cabin when her dad had spied him and called him over. His hair was dark blond hair and his eyes were
the color of seawater.
Thinking
of those eyes now made her recall the protective way he would “spot” her every
time she was about to do something daring, like swinging from the ancient
knotted rope out over the lake. She
hadn’t even known it was there, but when he showed it to her, she’d clambered
up onto the giant boulder to reach it before he could test it first.
Remembering
the way he’d stood, arms crossed over his bare chest, waiting for her to let go
or return to the bank—poised to leap in and pull her out if necessary—those
were the memories that had brought her back each and every year until she’d met
and married Sam.
Beth
rubbed her arms and put away the past.

This makes me want him to come back again. Lovely 8. I tweeted.
Put away the past? doesn't sound like it.
She needs to reconnect with John, I'm thinking.
Thanks so much!
Think she might be fibbing to herself? Not that we would ever do that, right?
Yup, I agree. Methinks it's time to reconnect. Wonderful snippet!
Pretty hard to put the past away sometimes.
So why did she ever marry Sam? It was John, all the way! Great snippet.
Sweet memories for her. I hope she's happy.
Interesting all the times she shared with John, yet married someone else. Hopefully we get to meet John soon! Terrific snippet!
First loves are never forgotten, I think! Nice eight!
You're right, but John disappeared on her!
Isn't it though?
Nice 8, Ann. The last line was the perfect ending for this snippet. :-) I can hardly wait to read STUTTER CREEK ;-)
Thanks, Teresa!
Thanks so much, Sarah. =)
Thanks, Charmaine.
Lost love stories are so enticing! I think it's because everyone has someone from their past that they think of from time to time. Great snippet!

I wonder how is her relationship with Sam going on and if John can come back or if it's totally over between them.
Good question!
Excellent memory description. It took me right to the scene.
Thanks, Cindy!
