#Weekend Writing Warriors - Stutter Creek Snippet

Welcome back to Weekend Writing Warriors for another look at Stutter Creek, coming June 1st.  We are up to Chapter Two.  Feel free to scroll down and poke around to read previous snippets if you missed them.  =)
Last week Beth let the memories of her first crush comfort her after her divorce and the death of her father.

This week:

Revisiting her memories of John, okay embellishing her memories of the boy her Dad had jokingly called Big John because of his height, was just another way of coping with the sudden silence that now enveloped her. Beth knew she’d probably never see John again. Except in her dreams.
She lay back in the pillows and drifted away. The over-the-counter sleep aid was beginning to help. This time, her thoughts became a late summer picnic. It was a family outing with her dad and her husband, Sam.  Her daughter, Abby, was there, too.  She was just a toddler.

Okay, folks, that's all for this week.  Now skip on over to the website and check out some AWESOME authors!  Until next week...cheers!  Oh, and if you like ghost stories, scroll down for an excerpt from my reissued novel, Stevie-girl and the Phantom Pilot!

  1. Love this 8! You can feel her pain and longing for the easy life that always exists in sweet memories. Can't wait to see what happens next!

  2. Sometimes you just have to say thank goodness for dreams! I enjoyed the tone in this excerpt very much!

  3. Lovely snippet. Very evocative. You can feel her pain.

  4. Intriguing snippet, makes me want to know more about all these people.

  5. Very poignant snippet that makes me really feel for her. Looking forward to reading more.

  6. Nice--I like how you conveyed the mixed up nature of her dream. Good eight, Ann. :-)
