Following her father’s death and the collapse of her marriage, Beth retreats to the family cabin at Stutter Creek where she stumbles across the path of a serial
killer.
In last week's entry, a girl named Mandy saw a small boy beside the road. When she stopped her car and rolled down the window to check on him, a man yanked open the car door, leapt across the seat, and slapped a strip of duct tape across her mouth. Here's what happened next:
He buried his
free hand knuckle deep in the thick blonde braid at the base of her skull even
as his other hand slid down to her windpipe and began to squeeze.
Mandy’s fight
instinct kicked in then, and she whipped her head back and forth in an effort
to dislodge his hands. His stench, and the oily filth of his unkempt hair, was
sickening. She clawed at his eyes, ripped at his skin, but it was no use.
The psycho laughed and simply leaned his head back out of her reach.
That’s when
Mandy began to claw at her own face, attempting to scratch the silver tape off
her mouth. It didn’t matter. There was no one around to hear her scream even if
she could have gotten it off.
Afterthought:
I hope you enjoyed today's snippet. I will continue to post the next 8 until the book is released on June 1st. Be sure to check out the other authors at the main Website: wewriwa.com

Superb writing, as usual! I can't wait until this awesome book releases and I doubly can't wait to see the cover!!!
Oh DEAR! I like that she's keeping her head, trying everything. Very intense and of course I must read more. Terrific excerpt!
Oh no! This is both suspenseful and chilling.
Great suspense! Enjoyed reading it and am looking forward to the next instalment.
Well that's pretty nasty. Poor Mandy. Nice snippet.
Very scary and good! Tough to wait another week! Will she get away or won't she? Excellent snippet!
Yay ~ thank you, Elaine!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. That's what I love to hear!
It is awful, isn't it? And it gets so much worse...
Thank you so much! Now, I can't wait for next week either. LOL
Thanks! I can't wait to see the cover, either. Viola did such a gorgeous job on ALL three of your covers. I really love the latest one! That green is superb!
Scary stuff. I don't think this will end well. On the other hand maybe this isn't the serial killer. We have a tendency to think of those psychos as unkempt, dirty and dangerous-looking when just as often the opposite is true and it's the last person you'd expect.
You're doing a great job of keeping me guessing, Ann!
Haha. That's the thing about Sunday snippets, you can't read ahead! Thanks, Kate!
Scary indeed! Great extract
Just HAD to comment :D Things are looking grim for Mandy. I'm glad to see she is still fighting though. I'm rooting for her.. well, for obvious reasons ;)
Oh, my...thanks Mandy!!!
Great characterization of Mandy.
What a tense moment. It seems like an impossible situation. How can she possibly get free? Was the boy a decoy?
Yes, very tense. Almost time to post another snippet.
